Monetize your Wordpress Content with the Official Adless Plugin
By Mathias Grund Sรธrensen (Founder & CEO of Adless)
The official Adless plugin for Wordpress makes it super easy and fast to start earning from your Wordpress content. You can install the plugin directly in your Wordpress admin page under Plugins –> Add New and search for Adless. This post will take you through how to integrate with Adless using the plugin and start earning immediately.
We already offer a brief documentation to get started but in this post we will provide some more commentary on the process.
Step 1 - Create Account and Start Offering Services
If you already have an account and have signed up for services you offer, skip ahead to Step 2.
You will need an Adless account to start earning with Adless. Go ahead and create it now.
Next, you need to browse and sign up for the services you want to offer. The more services you offer, the more revenue you will be able to generate from Adless.
Signed up for at least one service now? Great!
Step 2 - Add and Configure the Wordpress Plugin
If you haven’t already, you can install the Adless plugin directly in your Wordpress admin page under Plugins –> Add New and search for Adless.
When installed, you need to go to settings for the plugin (Plugins –> Settings for the Adless plugin or Settings –> Adless). Here you need to specify you earner ID and save:
Step 3 - Paywall your Content
You are now ready to start putting restricted content behind the paywall. This is super easy, just edit a post and mark it as protected as shown in this video:
You can add the css classname adless-protected-content as many times as you want. We will only show the subscription sales dialog on the first instance.
Notice that the paywall defaults to expecting you to offer access to premium content. If you have not signed up for this service, you probably do not want to use the paywall since you will not receive any compensation.
Oh, and if you do not like the default paywall appearance? You can easily modify it in the plugin settings!
Step 4 - No Ads? Earn More!
If you are not using display advertisement anywhere on your website, you can earn additional compensation by offering the relevant service. Just go to the plugin settings page and add the NO_ADS slug as a default service and save:
That’s it! Now you will also receive compensation from this subscription network if your visitor is a subscriber.
Using both the paywall and default services together is a strong combination because the paywall will prompt your users to authenticate with Adless, thereby unlocking all subscription network compensations you may be eligible for.
Step 5 (optional) - Advanced Customization
The Adless client allows you to do many other things like showing buttons to encourage authentication with Adless, conditionally show ads etc. We will eventually bring the same ease of use for these use-cases as we have for the paywall, but for now you need to configure it using the Custom Configuration option in the plugin settings. You can find a full reference for the configuration in our documentation.
Hopefully you are well on your way now and already receiving income from your Wordpress content ๐ค If you have any questions, comments or just need more help, you can always reach us at [email protected].
